The original Thrillville is a fantastic theme park building simulator. However, Thrillville off the Rails takes whatever made the first game so enjoyable and adds new and exciting features that elevate this game into being a sequel that not only exceeds but also improves upon what the first game has already established.

The game plays just the same as it did before. There are five parks to unlock and each park has three areas to place coasters, carnival rides, games, and stalls. One of the biggest changes is the new coaster customization options which are a ton of fun to experiment with. There are many specific pieces that take coaster design to a new, fun, and ambitiously creative level. You can even stop halfway on your coaster design and make it go off the rails. Which in context sounds dangerous, but in Thrillville, it’s freakin clever and a lot of fun. Let’s not forget to mention how freaking epic the soundtrack is. Most of the songs in the background are completely original and it captures the feelings of being at the most epic amusement park you can imagine.

Once again you’ll be led through the majority of the game by Mortimer, the ingenious and wacky scientist who is also the creator of the Thrillville parks. Thrillville’s competitor Globo Joy is back too and they are better than ever. While you manage your park’s guest happiness and ect, you’ll also be dealing with critics who are controlled by Globo Joy and have entered the park to give Thrillville bad reviews on purpose. The story gets really interesting as you keep interacting with the critics and it can lead to some very interesting plot twists in the overall story.

Thrillville Off the Rails is an amazing game especially if you're a fan of the first one. The coaster design options are awesome, the soundtrack is beyond fantastic and even the game’s graphics have improved tremendously (At least on the Xbox 360 version) Its a must-play for fans of the original, and even fans of game building tycoons may end up enjoying it just as much.

(Final Grade: A-)
