This is my first time playing a Donkey Kong game and I'm playing the Nintendo Switch Online version which may affect some of the review, but that’s not gonna stop me from saying what a solidly entertaining experience this was.

When King K Rolls goons raid Donkey Kong's home and steal all of the family's bananas it's up to Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong to travel through many different and unique lands to reclaim what is rightfully their's.

The best thing I can say about this game is how impressive the graphics are especially for 1994. It goes for a 3D type look which is now common in games made today but it’s still amazing how they were able to take 2D graphics and make them look like they're in a three dimensional space. The gameplay itself was pretty challenging but not in a way that makes me want to rip my hair out. It’s a basic point a to point b style of playing with many enemies and bosses blocking your way. The worlds are well made and sometimes you’ll break out of traditional level design to do things like mine cart jumping or swimming underwater.

This has all the charm and excellent world building I’ve come to expect from a Nintendo product. It’s a game that in many respects was way ahead of its time and i’m super glad to have had the honor to have played through this instant classic.
